Dan Beachy-Quick has written numerous books in different genres, including most recently a collection of essays, fragments, and poems, Of Silence and Song (Milkweed Editions, 2017), the forthcoming poetry collections Arrows (Tupelo Press, 2020) and Variations on Dawn and Dusk (Omnidawn, 2019), as well as a translation of six poets from the ancient Greek lyric tradition, Stone-Garland (Milkweed Editions, Seedbank Series, 2021). His creative and academic interests are wide-ranging, from ancient Greek literature, language, and philosophy, through the Metaphysical poets, Romanticism, Transcendentalism, Moby-Dick, to Modern and Post-modern poetries. He teaches courses seeking ways to connect these disparate concerns.

He has also helped to create and facilitate the Crisis & Creativity Work Group—an effort to bring the sciences and the humanities into conversation and collaboration, and whose most recent efforts concerned species extinction, and garnered support from the School of Global Environmental Sustainability (SoGES).

He is currently Assistant Chair and Undergraduate Coordinator of the English department.
