Now retired from the University, Dr. Redente has been a teacher, researcher and administrator throughout his career. He has taught at the undergraduate and graduate level in the general area of basic and applied ecology. He has served as department head, associate dean for research, and associate vice president for research. Professor Redente is a restoration ecologist who has gained international status for the restoration of drastically disturbed ecosystems in arid and semiarid regions. His research is focused on solving interesting challenges created by severe ecosystem disturbance associated with mining and milling activities. His research in both basic and applied aspects of restoration has led to many practices currently used in the restoration of disturbed lands.
