A professor of Psychology, Wayne Viney retired from the University in 2007, but returned as an instructor in 2011 and regularly teaches courses in his areas of specialization, the history of psychology and the psychology of religion. He received his Ph.D. in experimental psychology with a minor in History and Philosophy of Science in 1964 from the University of Oklahoma, is a Fellow in the American Psychological Association, and has served as President of its Division 26 (History of Psychology). More recently he has served as President of the Rocky Mountain Psychological Association. Dr. Viney has published extensively in the history of psychology. His major research interests are in the psychology and philosophy of William James, unity and disunity in the sciences and psychology, and the history or the relations between science and religion.
